Woman Takes Job As Dishwasher At Nursing Home To Be With Husband

Pandemics, man. I'm over it. But here we are, stuck a little while longer. Can't we all just wear a mask & get this over with? I think it's hard for people to understand the bigger impact it has on this world as a whole, outside of how it just affects them. The inconvenience of you wearing a mask can help situations like this one.

I was scrolling on Tik Tok before bed last night. You expect to mostly laugh & swipe on to the next video. Last night though, I broke down & cried. A man named Steve was living in a nursing home with Alzheimer's, and I don't think you can truly understand what that's like unless you have first hand experience with someone who is or has had this disease. But even if you haven't, you can try. He & his wife Mary have been separated because of COVID-19 & his nursing home, just like others across the country, was not accepting visitors. She was able to visit him by standing outside his window, but all of it was very confusing to him. I'm not sure they extent of his Alzheimer's, but imagine having to live that pain every single day, relearning why you can't be with your wife, why she's on the other side of a window, why you can't just go hug her, something safe that you DO remember.

After over 100 days apart, Mary took a job at the nursing home as a dishwasher, just so she could be with & interact with her husband.

CUE THE TEARS.

Please, wear a mask. Help stop the spread.
