The holidays are upon us. For many people, there are activities that we only do seasonally, but they can become traditions & even sentimental. For example... as crazy as Black Friday has become over the last 5-10 years, and as easy as it is to order most everything online for the Black Friday price with free shipping, my Mom & I still go out together & shop. Or when I begin wrapping gifts, I always watch "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" a minimum of 2 times back to back, before switching over to Elvis Presley Christmas music. Or how on Christmas Eve, I always make baked ziti with hot sausage. Or how before he passed, I would get a small tin of my Grandpy's Peanut Butter Fudge.
All of these are traditions specific for the holidays. And one that many people partake in, is enjoying eggnog. Well, here I am in my 30's, and I've NEVER tried eggnog once in my life. I'm not entirely sure why I've never tried it. I know as a child, I wasn't as adventurous. And I always thought it looked thick & like snot. Hey, I'm being honest. But as an adult, I don't consider myself a picky eater & I'll at least try something once before I decide I don't like it. Well, eggnog came up with some co-workers last week, so I figured now was as good a time as any to give it a try.
Corinne from the Promotions Department had also never tried it before, so we gave it a try together. Overall, we gave it an 8 out of 10. While I don't think I would drink a big cup of it, having a little in a cup of coffee or adding some rum or bourbon for a treat at a holiday party, I would be okay with that. It was never much "dessert'y" in my mind & less like a drink.
Be sure to let me know how you enjoy drinking eggnog most! Here's hoping you & your family enjoy all of your holiday traditions this year & have a very Merry Christmas!
