How To Play Virtual "Cards Against Humanity" While Social Distancing

Cards Against Humanity

What do you guys think... are you over Social Distancing too? It's funny because I find myself to be an extroverted introvert. What does that mean exactly? Well, I possess qualities of both personalities. I really love my time alone, quiet, at home. But I also love hanging out with my friends, going out & socializing. At first I was like, this is okay. I don't mind being alone. Now that I'm officially on Week 3 of Social Distancing including working from home, I'm like alright... I need my friends like whoa right now.

The other night, a few friends & I had a little virtual "Wine Time". Wine Time in the past was an opportunity for us to just get together last minute, hang out, have some wine, snacks & socialize. They usually happen more in the warmer months, and they are conducted from someone's front porch with about 1 - 2 hours warning that it's happening. Given all the new rules regarding gathering, we decided to take our Wine Time to Zoom.

My Friends & I At Virtual Wine Time

We spent about 2 hours just chatting it up & laughing. It was THE best mental health medicine at the time, and I highly encourage you to do the same! But, if you want to take your fun to the next level, here's an opportunity for you... a game of virtual "Cards Against Humanity". Playingcards.io has released their own version of "Cards Against Humanity" called "Remote Insensitivity"... I'm sure the name change is due to licensing reasons with the actual card game. In addition to that popular card game, they also offer Checkers, Go Fish, Crazy 8's & more. Once on the site, you can simply enter the Room Code if a friend gave you one, or start a new game on your own.

Choose "Remote Insensitivity" & you'll be on your way to playing a game of "Cards Against Humanity"! Choose the share icon on the left (the 3 circles in a trianglar shape, if you're not familiar) to send the room to your friends. Now it would be a good move to get together on Zoom, Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts or some other conference program so you can talk with your friends as well since the game room does not support any type of chatting, and you'll need (& want!!) to have discussions & laughter during this game.

Now I promise you the game is exactly how you would expect it to be... highly inappropriate. For the sake of this blog, I only displayed answers that were a little more PG. But rest assured, your favorite cards are in there!

The space along the bottom is only viewable to you & no one else in the room. That would be your hand. On the left & right hand side, each player has a space to stack up their "winning cards" (as in the black [purple] card they receive when their white [lavendar] card is chosen as the winner). The middle row is where each person puts their answer to the black/purple card being played at the time. It's pretty simply once you figure it out!

I'm pretty excited to schedule another Virtual Wine Time with my friends this weekend & incorporate a virtual game of Cards Against Humanity with it. Everyone could use some belly laughs during a time like this, so give it a shot & have a little fun.
