BREAKING: Tri-City ValleyCats No Longer Affiliated With MLB

Today is a sad day for Capital Region Baseball fans. Since coming to The Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy back in 2002, the Tri-City ValleyCats will no longer be affiliated with Major League Baseball. For the past 18 years, our beloved ValleyCats have been a Houston Astros affiliate as part of the Minor League Baseball system. They have sent 80+ players to Major League Baseball, won 8 Division Titles & 3 League Titles, the most recent in 2018. And most importantly, they provided local jobs, and an affordable entertainment option for families here in the Capital Region. With low ticket prices, fair concessions & an abundance of family entertainment before, during & after the game, I know it was a Summer staple that I definitely missed this past Summer due to COVID-19. On top of that, the ValleyCats were very active in the community, especially with Youth Baseball programs & helping to fix up their fields each season.

The good news it that while they will no longer be affiliated with MLB, the team is actively working on a plan to keep professional baseball here in the Capital Region. Here you can read the official statement:

I'm very sad to hear this news, but hopeful that they will come up with a plan for 2021. I have so many fond memories at The Joe over the years.... Bark N Brew every year with my dog Gunnar, throwing out the First Pitch at several games, 4th of July Fireworks, Community Night's to honor First Responders, Country Night's at The Joe with our friends from Whiskey Highway & Skeeter Creek, and lots of smiles with friends & family.
