24-Year-Old Woman Dies In Bath After Her iPhone Falls In The Water

A 24-year-old woman was found dead in a tub and it turns out the cause of her death was electrocution due to an iPhone.

One of Olesya Semenova's roommates discovered her body in the bathroom of their Russian apartment. She immediately called for an ambulance, telling the emergency operator, "I screamed, shook her, but she was pale, did not breathe and showed no signs of life. I was really scared. When I touched her, I got an electric shock." She also noted that Semenova's iPhone 8 was in the water and that it was also plugged in and still charging.

According to paramedics, the phone was the cause of her death. Apparently the device, while plugged into an outlet, fell into the tub and killed Olesya.

The Russian emergencies ministry released a warning after Olesya's death, saying, "The tragedy once again reminds us that water and an electrical appliance connected to the mains are incompatible. The same applies to any mobile device. If you drown a smartphone, the worst thing is its failure, but when it is connected to the network, we see what the consequences are."

In recent months, other young people in Russia have died int he same manner, with the latest one happening in August when a 15-year-old was killed by an electric shock in her tub.
