New Trend: PopTart Gingerbread Houses

Ahh, the holidays. One of my favorite traditions each year is to build a Gingerbread House. Some years, when I've had time, they look really nice & extravagant. Other years, I rush to get them done. This year is falling towards the "busier" side of years, so I opted for a pre-made Gingerbread House. That's right, I'm not even messing with building those 4 walls & roof. But all the work put into making Gingerbread Houses, and they usually just sit there for a few days & end up in the trash. Sure, maybe homemade Gingerbread Houses where you actually bake the cookies yourself, they might be tasty. But the kits you buy at the store are a bit stale & gross. I'll pick a few candies off them & then I'm done. But there's a new trend that I can totally get behind...

It's the PopTart Gingerbread house! Rather than buying a kit or making your own gingerbread at home, unwrap a couple packages of PopTarts. You can make Royal Icing with pantry staples Confectioner's Sugar, Egg Whites & Cream or Tarter (check Pinterest - there's other varieties as well, all simple stuff you probably have) or buy some pre-made to glue the pieces together. Once dry, use the Royal Icing to add your decorations & viola - a beautiful PopTart House that you'll actually want to eat! Bonus points: the house will already be decrated with the PopTart icing! You can even choose PopTart flavors that have festive sprinkles or designs.

Check it out! Will you make a PopTart House this year?
