The world is full of quaint little neighborhoods that make up cities, states, provinces, territories, countries, and continents. Some areas are hard to distinguish from the rest while others are so undeniably unique that they top the list of the coolest neighborhoods in the world. Be it culture teaming from every sidewalk crack, book store, coffee cup, and shop window, or a plethora of unique colors, designs, and activities; something about this neighborhood makes it stand out.

According to a list compiled by Time Out, the coolest neighborhood in New York is Fort Greene located in Northwest Brooklyn. This neighborhood was also named one of the coolest neighborhoods on Earth! Time Out recommended sleeping at The Ace Hotel, visiting the Center for Fiction, GreenMarket, BKLYN, and Su'juk, and dining at Café Paulette and Miss Ada during your time in Fort Greene.

Here's what Time Out had to say about the coolest neighborhoods in New York:

"Northwest Brooklyn's Fort Greene – bordered by the Brooklyn Navy Yard to the north, Prospect Heights to the south, and neighbors Downtown Brooklyn to the west and Clinton Hill to the east – is home to a creative nucleus of cultural landmarks, including the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Center for Fiction and the Pratt Sculpture Park. Along its main arteries – Fulton Street, Lafayette Avenue and Dekalb Avenue – you’ll find wine bars like Place des Fêtes, great casual restaurants like Habana Outpost, local shops like Greenlight Bookstore and plenty of flea markets. Among the neighbourhood’s characteristic Brownstones, walk-ups and rowhouses, these local businesses give this historic enclave its own laidback, community-oriented vibe. Everything here is centered around the sprawling, 30-acre Fort Greene Park, which acts as a public square with regular community get-togethers, markets and sporting events."
