The Bobcat, a new wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, New York, has been nominated for the Best New Theme Park Attraction in USA Today's 10Best Readers Choice Awards. The coaster, which debuted earlier this year, reaches speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour and soars 55 feet in the air, providing a modern twist on the classic appeal of a wooden roller coaster.
The Bobcat marks the first new wooden coaster introduced to New York since 1999 and is the first new coaster to be constructed at Six Flags Great Escape since 2003. It replaced the Alpine Bobsled, which retired in September 2023. The coaster's nomination is a testament to its popularity among park visitors and the innovative design that sets it apart from other attractions.
Resort President Rebecca Wood expressed her pride in the new addition, stating, "We are so proud to bring a state-of-the-art coaster, the first of its kind across Six Flags properties, right here to the Lake George Region." according to a press release from Six Flags.
The public can vote for The Bobcat online through December 21st. The winner will be announced by USA Today after the voting period ends.
