Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple has issued a warning to parents about the dangers of THC-infused gummies after a four-year-old girl was hospitalized. The incident occurred when the girl accompanied her father to work and found gummies in a lunchbox while sitting in a truck. The gummies, labeled "Super Smacked Bears," contained 60 milligrams of THC each, a psychoactive compound in marijuana.

According to CBS6 Albany, the girl ingested two gummies, while a six-year-old with her tried one but spat it out. After waking from a nap, the girl began screaming and hallucinating, reportedly seeing animals approaching her. In her panic, she bit both of her parents, breaking the skin. She was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital and is expected to recover.

Sheriff Apple used this incident to highlight the risks associated with THC-laced edibles, especially those packaged in colorful, candy-like wrappers that can attract children. He emphasized the importance of keeping such products out of children's reach and urged parents to be vigilant.

Currently, no charges have been announced, but the sheriff stressed the need for awareness about the potential dangers these products pose to children.
