The Capital Region is bracing for another wave of extreme heat. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to rise between 85 and 95 degrees, with the heat index potentially reaching up to 98 degrees. A heat advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday (July 20), covering Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, and Montgomery counties.

The National Weather Service advises residents to stay hydrated, remain indoors, and avoid direct sunlight to prevent heat-related illnesses. They also recommend wearing lightweight clothing and limiting outdoor activities to early morning or evening hours.

The Times Union reports that this heat advisory follows a recent period of extreme heat in late June. Although the upcoming heat is expected to be less severe, it still poses risks, especially for vulnerable populations.

The National Weather Service issues heat advisories when the heat index is forecast to rise above 95 degrees. Residents are encouraged to listen to NewsRadio 103.1 / 810 WGY for the latest weather information.
