SICK: How SICK is TOO SICK for a kid to go to SCHOOL?

When I was a kid, I tried to toe the line between too sick to go to school and not so sick I can't lay on the couch and watch TV.

This flu season has been particularly rough. However, when your kid is sick with something less severe, it can be hard to know when he or she may need a day off from school. Huffington Post put together a guide for parents to know, How Sick Is Too Sick To Go To School

  • Fevers: A kid with a temperature of 100.4 Farenheit or greater needs to stay home until she is fever-free for a full 24 hours.
  • Stuffy Nose and Cough: If the mucus is really thick and/or the cough is frequent, loud, or just sounds “gross,” it’s probably best to keep her home..
  • Tummy Troubles: Kids who are suffering “intestinal mischief” like vomiting or diarrhea should stay home for 24 hours after their last incident.
  • Skin Stuff: Anything highly contagious like lice or pink eye means your kid earned some time off.
