Some Sad News About One Of My Favorites, Country Singer Hal Ketchum

When I first started in country music, as a senior in high school in Int'l Fall, MN, I found this song by Hal Ketchum called "I Miss My Mary" and fell in love with it. The summer after I graduated, I was doing the afternoon show on the local country station, K-104. As long as I hit the news at the top of the hour and the "Al Lindner Fishing Minute," I could play whatever I wanted. I always ended my show with that HK song.

I saw him play when I first started at K102 at Povlitzki's on 65...it was magic! He played all the hits from "Small Town Saturday Night" to "I Know Where Love Lives" to "Mama Knows the Highway" and "Hearts Are Gonna Roll." (I could keep going.) I had asked him before the show, I had a chance to introduce him on stage if he'd play my "I Miss My Mary" song, he did : ) If you like 90s country, I recommend check out his "Hal Ketchum The Hits," it's SO GOOD.

I was sad to see the news today as I've often checked his website hoping for a return to MN...
