Here's How to Fall Correctly

Did you know there's a right way to fall? According to the CDC, more than 1 in 4 seniors fall each year, and it leads to over a million hospital visits. So, you might as well be prepared. If you're falling, here's how to do it.

1. Try to land on something soft. If you're outside, aim for things like grass or mulch. If you're inside, try to fall towards the couch or a carpet.

2. Make your butt absorb most of the impact. Try to twist your body so you land on your backside. Just avoid your tailbone, and don't land on your hip.

3. Relax your body and roll. Tensing up leads to worse injuries. Think about bending your knees and melting into the ground.

4. Tuck your chin. It can prevent head and neck injuries, like concussions or whiplash.

If you want to lower your RISK of falling, here are two ways to do it: Stay in shape by working out more . . . and go get your eyes checked. You're less likely to fall if you can see what's in front of you.
