Darius Rucker had only completed a couple of Zoom writes before penning his hit, "Beers And Sunshine," alongside J.T. Harding, Josh Osborne, and Ross Copperman.
In a recent interview with Cody Alan, the "Wagon Wheel" singer revealed how technology played a significant role in making this song and how the song almost had a completely different title.
"I had probably done two Zoom writes before that," says Darius. "It was all the rage, but that one was the first song that I had done that was all recorded, you know, over the internet. That was pretty cool!"
"It was early in the pandemic, and we were all like, "Is it really going to be like this?" and it was just like that," laughs the star as he continued to reveal that the title for "Beers And Sunshine" was almost called, "Tequila And Sunshine."
"After I started recording it, I had a buddy who liked it a lot. He loved tequila," says the "Come Back Song" singer. "He still sings it to me, every time I see him, "Tequila And Sunshine."
"I had to go, "No, buddy. It doesn't work that way!" laughs Darius.
On the heels of the song's release, Darius shared an update on Instagram saying, "It's been a hard year, with a lot of heaviness constantly around us." "I don't know how we fix any of these big, real issues that we're facing, but while we work through this time, I think it's important that we find the silver lining where we can really enjoy the little moments and the simple joys of time spent together with friends, family, beer and sunshine."
