I love a good feel good story, bonus points for savings an animals life!
Over the weekend, a cat was found stuck up high in a tree in Berlin, NY. Members of the community tried to coax the cat down to no avail. The local Fire Department was called, but without a ladder truck in their fleet, the cat was too high to reach. Animal control also tried to remove the cat from the tree, but it was just up too high. All hoped that the cat would eventually work his way down on his own.
Some time passed & a concerned neighbor to the cats new temporary home used the power of Facebook to reach other community members to see what else could be done. Someone was able to get in touch with NYSEG who donated their time & resources to save the cat from the tree on Tuesday, after having been stuck since some point over the weekend.
A big thank you to Mike, Jim & John from NYSEG for bringing their bucket truck in to rescue the cat, a true example of a small community coming together. And while none of the neighbors recognized the cat, someone offered to take it in & help find him a permanent home.
