I'm an animal lover, and I was born, raised & still live in the country today. Just last weekend, I was sitting in my backyard at night with a small fire & heard some rustling in the woods. Having deer, bear, fox, turkey & sometimes even moose is a normal occurrence for my backyard. However... those animals don't belong in the city, and often have ill-fated results when they end up there.
Big kudos to the City of Watervliet Police Department. Yesterday morning, they received a call for an injured deer & thought they might have to put it down. But when they arrived on scene, they realized that was not the case after all! While he was injured, he was still walking & very friendly. It is very rare to get that close to a deer, my first thought is maybe he was in some sort of shock from his injury, or he's just lived very close to the city for most of his life & is used to the hustle & bustle - it's hard to say. But the Watervliet Police Department deserve a big Thank You for having a heart & realizing this little guy was gonna be just fine. They were able to keep him safe until the North Country Wildlife could pick him up & take care of him properly. Check out the photos & post below.
